Vivo Y97 launched with 6.3-inch Halo Full View display

Vivo has launched their latest Y-series mid-ranger, the Vivo Y97, today, in China. The smartphone comes with the new Halo Full View display and is powered by a Snapdragon chipset. There’s a dual camera setup as well as AI Face Unlock.

The Vivo Y97 features a 6.3-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of Full HD+ resolution, i.e., 2280×1080 pixels. The Halo Full View display has a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a 90% screen-to-body ratio. Powering the smartphone is an octa-core MediaTek Helio P60 chipset with Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. It comes with 4 GB RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, expandable up to 256 GB using a microSD card. The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Vivo’s Funtouch OS 4.5 on top.

For the cameras, the Vivo Y97 includes a 16 MP primary camera, while the secondary camera is a 2 MP shooter which captures depth information for portraits. The rear-facing cameras offer AI Scene Recognition. On the front, there’s a 16 MP selfie shooter, which comes with AI Beautify feature.

The battery underneath the is a 3315 mAh battery. For connectivity, the Vivo Y97 comes with 4G VoLTE, 802.11 ac dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS. The phone is 8.1 mm thick. While the phone lacks a fingerprint scanner, the phone has an AI Face Unlock which scans up to 1024 facial points and claims to unlock the phone in just 0.1 secs.

Pricing and Availability of Vivo Y97
The Vivo Y97 comes in Aurora Blue, Black and Rose Gold colors with a gradient finish on the 3D micro-arc mirror back. Priced at CNY 1998 (USD 290/ INR 20,931), the phone is on sale in China.
