Dell unveils the compact XPS 17 (9700) and the revamped 15-inch XPS 15 (9500)

Dell has successfully occupied a niche in the production of laptops in several price segments. Just over two weeks ago, Dell showed up it’s new ultra-thin laptops from the XPS 2020 lineup. The American manufacturer Dell did not delay with the announcement and yesterday officially launched the updated 15-inch Dell XPS 15 (9500) and the new 17-inch XPS 17 (9700).
The Dell XPS laptop range has always been one of the most sought-after on the market. After a long use of old and proven design, Dell has finally completely updated the existing models. And yet, in the example of the XPS 15 9500, evolution is much more noticeable than in previous generations of the model.
The new XPS 15 is arguably the biggest update in almost five years: it’s even more compact, with a minimal bezel on a 15.6-inch 16:10 display, the latest Intel 10th-generation processors, and even the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti Max-z offering a battery life of up to 25 hours.
As for the new 17-inch model XPS 17, which is clearly aimed to compete straight against with the Apple MacBook Pro 16, is the most compact laptop in its class and the most powerful laptop from the manufacturer.
According to the company, it is the “world’s smallest 17-inch laptop”, with minimal bezel on all four sides, with a 16:10 InfinityEdge touchscreen, 93.7% ratio and “smaller than 48% of the 15-inch laptops available today on markets.”
What’s more, Dell states that the XPS 17 is more compact than 50% of all 15-inch laptops available on the market today. The new XPS 17 stands out with the same minimal bezel screen, but larger and slightly better features, and is equipped with an 8-core Core i9-10885H processor (2.4/5.3 GHz) with a 45-w thermal package and a Nvidia GeForce 2060 graphics card.
The more compact Dell XPS 15 has already started selling in the U.S. at a price starting at $1300, while the Dell XPS 17 will have to wait until the summer. In the basic configuration it will cost $1500.
