Oppo Reno 9 Series

Oppo, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has just introduced its new Oppo Reno 9 series. Oppo’s Reno 8 replacement has arrived, and it’s a whole new look from the previous models.

The Oppo Reno 9, Oppo Reno 9 Pro, and the Oppo Reno 9 Pro Plus are the three variants available.

The three phones are nearly indistinguishable from one another, yet their internal configurations vary. Let’s compare and contrast the “plain Jane” and “professional” models presented here. The Oppo 9 Pro+ model is explained in detail here.

Oppo Reno 9 and Oppo Reno 9 Pro Specifications

Although the body of the Oppo Reno 9 and Reno 9 Pro is made of glass, the frame is made of plastic. They have a thickness of 7.19mm and a mass of 174g.

The phones’ 6.7-inch curved AMOLED displays include a central punch-hole, a resolution of 2412 x 1080 (FHD+), 394 PPI, and a refresh rate of 120Hz. Asahi Glass AGC DT-Star2 shields the 10-bit panel and allows for 950 nits of maximum brightness.

Both the standard and pro versions are driven by processors: Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G SoC in the former and the MediaTek Dimensity 8100-Max in the latter. The latter uses an integrated MariSilicon X NPU for enhancing visuals.

In either case, you’ll find LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. They both use the same Android-based operating system, ColorOS 13.

Both devices have 32-megapixel RGBW front-facing cameras with autofocus, but their rear cameras are different.

Typically, the Reno 9 has a 64MP main camera plus a 2MP monochrome camera. While the Reno 9 Pro has an 8MP ultra-wide camera, it also has a 50MP Sony IMX890 primary camera.

Dual SIM, 5G, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, GNSS, NFC, and USB Type-C are just some of the connection features it offers.

Notable extras consist of a fingerprint reader embedded in the screen, a graphite cooling system, and an infrared sensor.

Finally, both devices are powered by a 4,500mAh battery and can be charged quickly through cable connection (67W max).
