Indian Army bans personnel from using 89 apps Including Facebook, TikTok, Tinder, PUBG

Indian Army has reportedly banned its personnel from using 89 apps in their smartphones including PUBG, Facebook, Instagram, Indian Army sources were quoted as saying on NDTV, an Indian News TV Channel.

According to the news report, the Indian Army in a seeming attempt to stop the leakage of information has ‘asked’ its personnel to delete 89 apps already installed in their phones which includes Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, PUBG, 360 security, Ali Express, Tinder, Zapya.

Earlier, the Indian Government had banned 59 apps following the border spat with China in which 20 Indian soldiers had died.

Chinese apps including TikTok, ShareIt, Zender, and CamScanner were removed from Appstore and play store in India.

The Indian ministry of information and technology in a statement said that the apps were prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, the security of the state and public order.

The apps that have been reportedly asked to be deleted are divided into various categories like messaging, e-commerce, antivirus, dating apps, gaming apps.
