The number of mobile data or broadband internet users in Nepal has surged by 2.3 million in the past eight months, according to the economic survey of the fiscal year 2080/81.
The survey revealed that the number of data/internet users was 42.18 million in Falgun, up from 39.88 million in Asar.
The Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has granted licenses to various service providers, and the number of users using data/internet services from these providers has been increasing by 200,000 every month.
Nepal Telecommunications Company Limited (NTC) had 21.57 million data/internet users in Falgun, while other internet service providers (ISPs) had 1.27 million users, as per the survey.
In Asar of the fiscal year 2077, the number of data and internet users was 22.24 million, which increased to 38.41 million in Asar of the fiscal year 2079.
The economic survey 2080/81 showed that the number of internet users in Nepal has nearly doubled in the past five years, with the number of data/internet users rising by 19.88 million in this period.
