Tata Motors has today officially unveiled the PUNCH, its first SUV built on ALFA-ARC (Agile Light Flexible Advanced Architecture), developed under Impact 2.0 design language. Designed for the next generation users, the Tata ‘PUNCH’ is a no-compromise SUV, offering an exciting mix of tough utility with sporting dynamics and epitomizes what a characterful SUV should be.

The Tata Punch does indeed benefit from an SUV-ish visual profile courtesy its high stance, Harrier-like LED DRL units along with headlights, a wide bonnet design and a pronounced grille. The alloy design too looks appealing and the large wheel arches could help it tackle roads less than ideal.

Tata Punch: expected powertrain details
Two 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine options are expected to power the Punch micro-SUV. The lower-spec version will be a naturally aspirated unit that sees duty on the Tiago and the Tigor and produces 83hp. Meanwhile, higher variants are expected to come with the 1.2-litre turbo-charged version that does duty on the Altroz iTurbo. Transmission options will likely include a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox. Just like the Altroz, the Punch is also based on Tata’s ALFA architecture.

The Tata Punch is available in numerous colors, starting with brand’s Signature Blue,  Calypso Red, Meteor Bronze, Atomic Orange, Tropical Mist, Daytona Gray and Orcus White.

Global NCAP Crash Test : 5 star rating

In the most recent Global NCAP Crash Test, Tata’s new micro-SUV Punch received five out of a possible six stars for adult passenger safety and four out of five stars for kid passenger safety. To be launched on October 20, the Tata Punch is the newest automobile to gain the Five Star rating. Both Tata Nexon and Altroz have previously joined the group.

It will be the cheapest SUV made by the firm. The ALFA platform serves as the foundation for the Tata Punch. It’s got a door that swings open to 90 degrees like the ones on Altroz and Nexon.

Tata Punch Price in Nepal

The Tata Punch has now been launched in Indian market today at a price range of INR 5.49 Lakh to INR 8.79 Lakh depending on the variants. Tata Punch BS6 is available in 6 Automatic Transmission trims and 8 Manual Transmission trims.

On the manual transmission category, the price of base trim “Pure” starts at INR 5.49 Lakh ranging upward to INR 8.79 Lakh for the “Creative (IRA Pack)”.

Similarly, the price range for automatic transmission is between INR 6.99 Lakh for the “Adventure” trim and INR 9.39 Lakh for the “Creative (IRA Pack)”.

As far as rivals go, the Punch will take on high riding crossovers like the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and the upcoming Hyundai Casper. It will also rival entry-level compact SUVs like the Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.

Tata Punch is expected to launch in Nepali market in the second week of Baisakh, the compact micro SUV is expected to cost in the range of Rs 30 Lakh to Rs 40 Lakh.
