Nokia 235 & Nokia 220 4G (2024) Launched in India with Affordable 4G Options, UPI Support

HMD Global, the company behind Nokia phones, has continued its push into the feature phone market with the launch of two new models in India: the Nokia 235 4G and Nokia 220 4G. These releases follow closely on the heels of the updated Nokia 3210 (2024), solidifying Nokia’s commitment to providing affordable and accessible mobile devices for Indian consumers.

Nokia 235 4G: A Feature-Rich Option for Everyday Use

The Nokia 235 4G boasts a 2.8-inch IPS display, making it easy to view content and navigate menus. It also features a 2MP rear camera for capturing photos and videos on the go. Under the hood, the Unisoc T107 processor and Nokia S30+ operating system ensure smooth performance for everyday tasks.

With 64MB of RAM and 128MB of expandable storage (up to 32GB via microSD card), the Nokia 235 4G provides ample space for contacts, messages, and multimedia files. The 1450mAh removable battery offers a reliable power source, allowing for up to 9.8 hours of talk time.

The phone’s connectivity options include Bluetooth v5.0 for wireless audio and data transfer, a headphone jack for listening to music or podcasts, and a USB-C port for charging. Additionally, the Nokia 235 4G comes pre-loaded with essential apps such as an MP3 player, FM radio, cloud apps, and access to news, weather, YouTube Shorts, and the classic Snake game. Importantly, it also supports Scan & Pay UPI apps, enabling seamless and secure digital payments.

Nokia 220 4G: Simplicity and Affordability

The Nokia 220 4G shares many of the same features as the Nokia 235 4G, but with one key difference: it lacks a rear camera. This makes it an even more affordable option for those who prioritize basic functionality and communication over photography.

Despite its simplicity, the Nokia 220 4G still supports UPI applications approved by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), making it a convenient tool for digital transactions.

Pricing and Availability

The Nokia 235 4G is available in Blue, Black, and Purple for Rs. 3,749, while the Nokia 220 4G comes in Peach and Black for Rs. 3,249. Both models can be purchased from HMD’s website, Amazon.in, and various retail stores across India.

HMD’s Growing Feature Phone Portfolio

In addition to the Nokia-branded feature phones, HMD Global has also launched new models under its own brand name: the HMD 105 and HMD 110. These phones, which also offer UPI support, large displays, and voice assistant capabilities, are set to hit the Indian market on June 11th.

Conclusion

With the launch of the Nokia 235 4G and Nokia 220 4G, HMD Global continues to cater to the diverse needs of Indian consumers, offering affordable, reliable, and feature-rich options in the feature phone segment. By integrating UPI support, Nokia is also contributing to the growth of digital payments in India, making it easier for people to embrace a cashless lifestyle.
