Nokia presented several new smartphones today along with the premium model Nokia 8.3 , the company launched a mid-range smartphone called the Nokia 5.3 and additionally two other devices – Nokia 1.3 and the classic Nokia 5310.

The Nokia 5.3 is the direct successor to the Nokia 5.1 and Nokia 5.1 Plus launched in 2019. HMD Global skipped the 5.2 model and jumped straight to the current 5.3.

The Nokia 5.3 is worthy mid-ranger and features a quad setup camera on the rear along with a high capacity battery.

As expected, the Nokia 5.3 has a 6.55-inch screen with HD + resolution, 20: 9 aspect ratio and a drop-shaped notch where the front camera is housed. Its is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 665 processor , which comes accompanied by 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of expandable internal storage with a micro SD card, although there will be more variants available.

As for the operating system, it brings pure Android 10 (we already know that all Nokia phones are Android One), and to keep it ticking, it includes a 4,000 mAh battery compatible with fast charging that promises up to two days of battery life. It also has a fingerprint reader located on the back.

Just above that fingerprint reader we find the circular module that houses the four sensors of the rear camera, with the LED flash in the center. The device has a main 13-megapixel sensor , a 5-megapixel wide-angle sensor, a 2-megapixel depth sensor and a fourth 2-megapixel sensor for macro photography. This camera is supported by artificial intelligence and has a Night mode and a Portrait mode.

On the front, the handset comes with a 8-megapixel selfie camera located on the drop notch.

The Nokia 5.3 also features a 3.5mm headphone jack, a button to activate Google Assistant and the usual connectivity options in this price range includes : 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth and USB-C.

Like all HMD Global phones, the modified version of Android 10 promises to be quite clean, in addition to bringing dedicated button to Google Assistant. The Nokia 5.3 is equipped with a 4,000 mAh battery, probably with fast charging support. According to HMD, the smartphone offers up to 22 hours of talk time or 1,875 days on standby on a single charge.

The device is available in three color options of Cyan, Sand and Charcoal. The smartphone measures 164.3 x 76.6 x 8.5 mm and weighs 185g.

Compared to the manufacturer’s previous offerings in this segment, there is no doubt that the new Nokia 5.3 represents an important step in HMD Global’s strategy.

However, when looking at their list of specifications it is clear that several smartphones from Chinese manufacturers have much more to offer in the same price segment.

The Nokia 5.3 is available in black, blue and beige colors. It comes at a price tag of NRs 23,499 for the version with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage in Nepali market.
