Google Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 6 launched with Tensor SoC, updated camera and Magic Eraser

Pixel 6 Pro

On October 19, Google announced the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro at its Pixel Fall Launch event. The new Pixel phones from Google use an unique system-on-chip (SoC) dubbed Tensor, which is intended to provide higher artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) performance than the previous Pixel phones’ generation.

A camera bar, rather than a square or rectangular module, is seen on the back of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. Both new phones have a hole-punch display and come pre-installed with Android 12. Additionally, the new Pixel phones are dust and water resistant, thanks to the IP68 certification.

The Pixel 6 comes in Kinda Coral, Sorta Seafoam, and Stormy Black colors, while the Pixel 6 Pro is available in Cloudy White, Sorta Sunny, and Stormy Black.

Pre-orders for the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have begun and the phones will go on sale on October 28 in the United States. Details about their expansion to other markets will be provided when they become available. The Pixel 6 series’ price and availability in India remain a mystery for the time being.

Google Tensor SoC

Google Pixel 6 Hardware specifications
The Google Pixel 6 dual-SIM (Nano+eSIM) smartphone is powered by Android 12 and comes with a 6.4-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,400 pixels) OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection on top.

It boasts a 20:9 aspect ratio and a pixel density of 441ppi as well. Google’s Tensor SoC and 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM power the phone. It has two cameras on the back: a 50-megapixel main sensor with an f/1.85 wide-angle lens and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. A laser detect autofocus (LDAF) and optical image stabilization system are included in the camera arrangement on the back (OIS). An 8-megapixel front-facing camera sensor with an f/2.0 lens is also included in the Pixel 6.

Soon, Google will introduce a feature dubbed “Quick Tap to Snap” that will let users take Snapchat photos and videos even when their phone is locked and in “Camera Only” mode. The AR lenses from Snapchat will let users add filters to their photos and videos.

The Pixel 6 also has a tool called Magic Eraser, which helps erase people and other objects from processed photos when using the Snap-powered camera features. There are also pre-installed features such as Motion Mode, which includes Action Pan and Long Exposure presets, and Real Tone, which claims to use software algorithms to provide accurate color reproduction. Face Unblur, Manual white balance, and other Google-exclusive camera-focused features are also included in the phone.

The Pixel 6 comes with 128GB and 256GB of internal storage, respectively. 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth v5.2, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C connector are all available connectivity options. It has an in-display fingerprint sensor for extra security and convenience. In addition to these, the device has an accelerometer as well as sensors for ambient light and barometric pressure, as well as a pyrometer and magnetometer.

Messages and photographs may be translated using Live Translate, which is built into the Pixel 6 and works even when the phone isn’t connected to the internet.

The Pixel 6 is equipped with a 4,614mAh battery that supports 30W wired fast charging and 21W wireless fast charging according to Google. Additionally, the Pixel 6 has a feature called Battery Share, which allows users to wirelessly charge other devices while using the Pixel 6. This sounds a lot like Samsung’s Wireless PowerShare feature on its Galaxy S7 and S8 handsets. As a result of its dimensions and weight, the Pixel 6 is quite a bit larger than the Pixel 5.
