Issuing a statement on Saturday, the dealer said that the company will initially be launching the G310GS and G310R models in Nepal.

These bikes are scheduled to be launched in December. “The wait is over for motorcycle enthusiasts as the bikes are scheduled to hit the roads of Nepal in early December this year,” read the statement.

“Renowned for their premium build quality and performance, Torque Motor Trading assures that these premium bikes will be affordably priced with an even lower cost of ownership.”

BMW 310GS

The BMW G310GS comes with a 313cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC single that pumps out 34 horsepower and 20.7 ft-lbs of torque — not bad numbers for a small engine. Performance comes from an efficient EFI system and a cylinder head that is turned around backwards to allow cool air to enter and exit the engine in a more streamlined fashion. This configuration also allows for a longer swing arm length on its short 58″ wheelbase, providing more-balanced handling and improved stability. Additionally, BMW claims it lowers the center of gravity and gives a front wheel weight bias that improves responsiveness.

Premium components on the G310GS include gold anodized upside-down forks, a radial-mounted 4-piston caliper front brake, an LCD instrument panel and LED tail light. ABS is also standard and may be switched ON or OFF on-the-fly. It’s also equipped for the trail with 7.1 inches of suspension travel front and rear, along with a 19″ front wheel and basic sump protection. With a relatively light weight of 374 pounds wet and a seat height of 32.9″ (32.3″ with optional low seat), it’s also easy to manage.

BMW G 310 R

The BMW G 310 R is the first production BMW motorcycle to be made outside Germany. Yes, it’s made in India, by TVS Motor Company, under the BMW Motorrad-TVS agreement.

And now, the G310R is finally launching in Nepal, even though it has been available for over a year now in markets abroad. In a way, the BMW G310R breaks new ground for BMW Motorrad, trying to tap into a completely new segment of motorcycles, not just in India, but even in emerging and rapidly growing motorcycle markets abroad. It’s a BMW for sure, only smaller, more compact and the first motorcycle from the German brand below 500 cc.

On the move, the G 310 R’s performance is familiar, since it shares its engine and chassis with the TVS Apache RR 310, but it’s still a little different. That’s because the G 310 R’s ECU is different, and there’s a lot less body weight than the TVS. For comparison, the Apache RR 310 weighs 170 kg, and it makes almost the same power and torque as the BMW, but at marginally higher revs. The 313 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine is tuned to make 34 bhp at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm on the G 310 R and it weighs 158.5 kg, and that makes quite a bit of difference in the way the bike behaves and feels on the move.

The pricing of these bikes will be announced after the formal launch in Nepali market.
