Today, the official premiere of the Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro smartphones took place. Huawei launched the P for Photography smartphone P30 Pro and P30 some three months ago and now its sub-brand has launched its flagship devices that is almost equivalent at least in the photographic section in the form of Honor 20 Pro and Honor 20.

The Chinese manufacturer Huawei can only go neck to neck with even competitors like Samsung and Apple hence it created a sub-brand Honor to take on small competitors like Xiaomi, Redmi, Oppo , Vivo and Oneplus. As the official launch has revealed all the true specification of these devices, we now can look into details that come in each of these two models and see what differentiates them apart.

Honor 20 Pro

The Honor 20 Pro is a premium variant of the Honor 20 series and carries few premium features over the basic variant Honor 20.

The devices comes with a 6.26-inch full-HD+ (1080×2340 pixels) display with 412ppi pixel density and 91.7 percent screen-to-body ratio. The phone is powered by the 7nm Kirin 980 processor with dual-NPU and up to 8GB of RAM. Inbuilt storage is offered up to 256GB.

The Honor 20 Pro offers a quad camera setup that entails a primary 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 snapper with f/1.4 aperture and a large 0.5-inch sensor. There’s a secondary 16-megapixel super-wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 117-degree angle lens. It is accompanied by an 8-megapixel telephoto camera with f/2.4 aperture that support 3x lossless optical zoom, 5x hybrid zoom, 30x digital zoom, and 4-axis OIS..

Lastly, the quad camera setup has a 2-megapixel macro camera with f/2.4 aperture for 4cm near macro photography. Features include 4-axis OIS, AIS, EIS, PDAF, AI Ultra Clarity Mode, AIS Super Night Mode, and more. There is also laser autofocus. It supports up to 4K video recording. It has received an overall DxOMark score of 111, Honor announced at the event. Up front, there is a 32-megapixel selfie snapper with f/2.0 aperture and 3D portrait lightning. It offers up to 1080p video recording, supported by EIS.

The Pro variant packs a 4,000mAh battery with 22.5W Honor Super Charge support that touts to charge 50 percent of the battery in 30 minutes. The dimensions of the phone are 154.60×73.97×8.44mm and it weighs 182 grams. The Honor 20 Pro runs on Android Pie-based Magic UI 2.1.0.

The phone supports Virtual 9.1 Surround Sound technology, and comes with dual microphones. Sensors on board include proximity sensor, digital compass, ambient light sensor, gravity sensor, hall-sensor, and gyroscope.

Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v5, and USB 2.0. It supports GPU Turbo 3.0 and Graphene Cooling Sheet technology for intense gaming sessions. As mentioned, the Honor 20 Pro houses a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. Lastly, the company also unveiled a Honor + Fortnite Wonder Outfit, exclusively for Honor 20 series users.

The Honor 20 features a 6.26-inch full-HD+ (1080×2340 pixels) all-view display along with a punch-hole design, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and 412ppi pixel density. Under the hood, there is a HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC, paired with dual-NPU, GPU Turbo 3.0, and 6GB of RAM.

Honor has provided a quad rear camera setup on the Honor 20 that includes a 48-megapixel primary Sony IMX586 sensor with an f/1.8 lens, AI image stabilisation (AIS) and AIS Super Night mode. The primary sensor also works with an AI Ultra Clarity mode and is based on the 4-in-1 pixel binning technique. There is also a 16-megapixel secondary sensor with a 117-degree super-wide-angle lens that has an f/2.2 aperture. Similarly, the smartphone has a 2-megapixel tertiary depth-assisting sensor with an f/2.4 lens as well as a 2-megapixel sensor with an f/2.4 macro lens.

For selfies, the Honor 20 flaunts a 32-megapixel sensor at the front with an f/2.0 lens and 3D Portrait Lighting support. There are also various camera features, including AI Camera, AI Ultra Clarity mode, and AI Color mode.

The Honor 20 packs a 3,750mAh battery that supports 22.5W SuperCharge tech. This is claimed to deliver 50 percent of charge in 30 minutes. There is also a Virtual 9.1 Surround Sound to offer multi-directional sound. Besides, the phone measures 154.25×73.97×7.87mm and weighs 174 grams.

The Honor 20 Lite runs EMUI 9.0 based on Android 9 Pie and has a 6.21-inch full-HD+ (1080×2340 pixels) display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 415ppi pixel density. The phone is powered by a HiSilicon Kirin 710 SoC, coupled with GPU Turbo 2.0 and 4GB of RAM.

For photos and videos, the Honor 20 Lite has a triple rear camera setup. This includes a 24-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 lens, 8-megapixel secondary sensor with an f/2.4 lens, and a 2-megapixel tertiary sensor with an f/2.4 lens. The camera setup also supports AI Stabilising mode and AI multi-scene recognition. Furthermore, there is a 32-megapixel sensor at the front along with an f/2.0 lens and AI Beautification.

The Honor 20 Lite has 128GB of inbuilt storage. On the connectivity front, the smartphone has 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The smartphone has an array of sensors that includes an ambient light sensor, gravity sensor, and a magnetometer. There is also a fingerprint sensor at the back. The phone packs a 3,400mAh battery. Lastly, it measures 154.8×73.64×7.95mm and weighs 164 grams.

Both the models come in only one configuration, so there is no confusion on variants and its individual pricing.

The Honor 20 price has been set at € 499 (roughly Rs. 62,126) for the lone 6GB RAM + 128GB storage configuration. The phone comes in Icelandic White, Midnight Black, and Sapphire Blue colour options and will be available for purchase soon.

Similarly, The Honor 20 Pro is priced at € 599 (roughly Rs. 74,576) for the 8GB RAM + 256 GB ROM. The phone has been made available in Phantom Black and Phantom Blue colour options.
