Mi Mix 3 5G edition launched, Xiaomi’s first 5G smartphone
Xiaomi took the stage the day before the official launch of the Mobile World Congress (MWC19), starting its keynote to make known us a whole range of products dedicated to consumers.
Xiaomi announced a 5G version of the previously announced flagship smartphone Mi Mix 3 in October last year, a slider camera smartphone that will hit the shelves in May at a price tag of € 599.
Europe is one of the first regions where Xiaomi is bringing the Mi Mix 3 5G first, making it clear how crucial this region is for the world’s fourth largest smartphone maker. The smartphone will be available through a number of operators in Europe, including Orange, Vodafone, Telefonica, etc.
The Mi Mix 3 has a big 6.39-inch HDR AMOLED display with 2,340 x 1,080 pixel resolution. Given the fact that the phone does not offer a notch, the screen has a 93.4 per cent screen-to-body ratio.
Under the hood, the Mi Mix 3 5G is powered by a Snapdragon 855 processor and the X50 modem. On the back of the Mi Mix 3 5G is a dual-lens camera, both with 12MP. Plus, the phone has a dedicated hardware button for calling up Google Assistant.
Donovan Sung showed up on the stage in Barcelona and showed the potential of 5G support on Mi MIX 3. For example, in 1 second one can download a 15-minute 1080p video(256MB) or download 26 MP3 tracks at bitrate of 320 kbps . Furthermore, a very first demonstration outside China of a 5G video call on the Orange network was made. This is possible thanks to the implementation of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X50 modem.Furthermore, 5G support will be guaranteed by various operators, including TIM , Vodafone and 3 Italia .
The Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 5G will be available in two colors: Onyx Black and Sapphire Blue. The price will be € 599 and will be available from May 2019 .
