At an event held today (10th Oct) in London, UK, Razer officially announced the Razer Phone, its smartphone made specifically for gamers. The device has been leaked for many months on the web and recently photos and specifications have also fallen into the network. Therefore, the revelation of the brand on Wednesday was basically composed by confirmations.

As a gaming device, the device has 8 GB of RAM and Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line chipset , the Snapdragon 835. With that, the smartphone could already be one of the most powerful on the market today, but the manufacturer has a novelty even more.

Design

The design of the phone, as you already checked in the photos, is very similar to that of Robin, manufactured by Nexbit, a company recently acquired by Razer. Still, the housing is all aluminum, and the device is quite thin for a device with a 4,000 mAh battery. The downsides are the lack of the 3.5mm plug for headphones and the lack of protection against water and dust.

Screen

The Razer Phone is the first smartphone to hit the Western market with a display with refresh rate of 120 Hz and the world’s first with UltraMotion technology. This technology synchronizes the signals of the GPU with the display to eliminate any type of lag, is basically the G-Sync for smartphones.

Out this unit, the new Pro iPad from Apple also has a screen with the same frequency, but this is only on the market of professional tablets, rather inaccessible for most mobile users.According to the manufacturer, the display with a higher refresh rate makes the Android gaming experience even more interesting. It is expected that the response of the display to the tones is better, as well as the visual of the graphics itself.

Performance

Razer compared the performance of other Android devices by specifying that the device is even the best in the world in terms of thermal performance among models with Snapdragon 835. Other than that, the company has created Game Booster, a tool that devotes performance and silences the notifications so that the user has the best possible experience.

Several game developers have even developed 2K resolution versions compatible with the 120Hz refresh rate exclusively for the Razer Phone. There are also titles with exclusive release for the device. Check out the specs:

According to the brand, this is enough to guarantee 12.5 hours of video, 63.5 hours of music or 7 hours of intense gameplay. The phone still comes with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4+ , which enables the handset to go from 0% to 85% of charge in just one hour. The input is USB-C.

Camera

Razer commented that the set of cameras on the back of the smartphone has two 12 MP sensors, one of which is accompanied by a wide-angle lens, to put more people in a single photo. However, the company intends to send updates to the software in the coming months to bring more features, such as portrait mode, slow motion at 240 fps, and so on. The front camera has 8 MP.
